Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Introduction

Wagtails Veterinary Centre ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This policy sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us.

Data We Collect

We may collect and process the following data about you:

  • Information you give us. You may give us information about you by filling in forms on our website or by corresponding with us by phone, email, or otherwise. This includes information you provide when you register your pet, book an appointment, or contact us with an enquiry.
  • Information we collect about you. We may automatically collect technical information, including the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system, and platform.
  • Veterinary records. We maintain records of your pet's medical history, treatments, vaccinations, and prescriptions as part of our veterinary care obligations.

How We Use Your Data

We use information held about you in the following ways:

  • To provide veterinary care and services to you and your pet
  • To manage your account and appointments
  • To communicate with you about your pet's health, appointments, and our services
  • To process payments and manage billing
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations as a veterinary practice
  • To send you information about our services, where you have consented to receive this

We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Contract: To provide veterinary services that you have requested
  • Legal obligation: To comply with our obligations under veterinary regulations
  • Legitimate interests: To manage and improve our veterinary practice
  • Consent: Where you have given us consent to contact you for marketing purposes

Data Sharing

We may share your personal data with:

  • Veterinary referral centres and specialists when your pet requires specialist care
  • Laboratories for diagnostic testing
  • Insurance companies when processing claims on your behalf
  • Our professional advisors and regulatory bodies as required by law

We will not sell your personal data to third parties.

Data Retention

We will retain your personal data for as long as is necessary to provide you with our services and for a reasonable period thereafter, or for as long as is required by law. Veterinary records are retained in accordance with Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) guidelines.

Under data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal obligations)

  • Request a copy of your personal data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below.

Analytics

We use two privacy-respecting analytics services from Vercel Inc., the platform that hosts this website, to help us understand how the site is used and to monitor its real-world performance:

  • Vercel Analytics collects aggregate pageview, referrer, and top-page data, plus a small number of named custom events (see below).
  • Vercel Speed Insights collects samples of Core Web Vitals (page load, interactivity, and visual stability metrics) so we can keep the site fast on real devices.

Both services run as sub-processors on our behalf. They do not set cookies, do not track you across other websites, and do not collect personally identifying information. In place of cookies, they use a daily-rotating anonymous session identifier derived from a hashed combination of your IP address and User-Agent string; the identifier resets every day and cannot be linked back to you.

The site emits exactly two custom events:

  • phone_click — fired when you tap one of our "call us" links. The only data sent alongside it is a location value that names which call-to-action was used (for example, footer, services_cta, emergency). No phone number, IP address, or other personal information is included.
  • registration_submitted — fired once when a registration form is successfully submitted. No payload is sent with it.

Opting out. You can opt out of all analytics and Speed Insights collection by enabling the Do Not Track setting in your browser. When Do Not Track is enabled, the site sends no analytics or Speed Insights events to Vercel.

Cookies

This website does not set any cookies for general visitors browsing our public pages, and we do not use any analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies anywhere on the site. See the Analytics section above for how we measure aggregate site usage without cookies.

Changes to This Policy

Any changes we make to our privacy policy in the future will be posted on this page. Please check back regularly to see any updates or changes to our privacy policy.
